Sunday’s Sermon
When we are “baptized into Christ,” we are “clothed with Christ.” We “put on Christ.” We are “baptized into his death” and “united with him in his resurrection.” To acknowledge Jesus, the crucified Messiah, as “Lord” in baptism is to accept a brand-new identity as his faithful disciple and to affirm that the shape and course of my life now lie wholly within his power. I belong to him. I no longer live. He lives in me and through me.
